Monarda fistulosa, the wild bergamot or bee balm, is a sturdy North American wildflower. Deep green aromatic foliage on strong square stems form an expanding upright clump. In summer, plants are topped by showy rounded clusters of fragrant lavender tubular flowers. Growing to around 120cm tall and wide it adapts to most soil types. Best in full sun. Loved by Bees and Butterflies. This variety works well in a naturalistic planting design.
