Amsonia hubrichtii ,also known as the Narrowleaf Bluestar, is a valuable ornamental perennial which has seasonal interest from early Spring to late Autumn. As a clump forming perennial this variety grows into a sizeable clump up to 90cm across and wide. In early Spring attractive fresh green, fine needle-like foliage emerges from the dormant crown giving a soft overall appearance. Soon after, light blue, star-shaped flowers emerge and hover over the clumps just beyond the foliage tips for many weeks. The tidy foliage remains throughout the Summer months. In Autumn a beautiful transformation occurs as the foliage turns copper-orange; adding a real contrast to its neighbouring plantings. Tough and drought tolerant once established.
