Geum triflorum (Prairie Smoke) is a distinctive American prairie perennial with beautiful textured, soft-fern, blue-green foliage that remains attractive throughout the season. It grows into a spreading mound around 30cm wide and up to 50cm tall. In late Spring attractive nodding, reddish-pink flowers hover above the foliage for many weeks. The flowers are then replaced with fillament-like silvery seed pods which resemble plumes of smoke, hence the common name. This display can last through until Autumn. A great plant for a naturalistic planting design and mass planting.
