Limonium latifolium, another variety of Sea Statice, is a tough, drought tolerant plant which does very well in coastal locations as well as inland. The foliage of this variety is more elongated than Limonium perezii, but the large deep green, leathery leaves are just as attractive. The fine lavender-blue flowers are produced in abundance and give a misty, cloud-like effect in the garden. Sandy, well drained soils in full sun suit it best. It forms a small shrub-like clump around60cm tall and wide.
